Montel Williams Fights for New York Medical Marijuana

I had my own ideas about the talk show host Montel Williams. I felt he was an opportunistic Ring Master... taking advantage of our stupid. Which isn't necessarily bad, it's just what came to my mind when I would I hear mention of Montel Williams. Montel Williams lives in Long Island, New York. He also has Multiple Sclerosis. Montel already uses medical marijuana as part of his treatment for Multiple Sclerosis. Montel has reached out to New York's Governor Patterson and will urge lawmakers to pass New York Medical Marijuana at a Press Conference today. (6/29/2010) This one is near and dear to my heart. I currently live in NYC, and the possibilities make my heart sing. My wife and I called Governor Patterson Call Governor Patterson - (518) 474-8390 - and expressed our strong support of New York's Medical marijuana measure by Senator Tom Duane, a Freedom loving Democrat from Manhattan. New York’s medical marijuana bill was passed 11-5 by the state Senate Codes Committee in March, a month after winning approval by the Senate Health Committee. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found that 71 percent of New york state voters think medical marijuana is “a good idea.”

Maine MMJ News - The Lucky 8 MMJ Dispensaries are close to Selection

MMJ USA is looking forward to building out Maine's Medical marijuana dispensaries page. However, Maine's Dispensary page will be different than the rest of the state's pages, as Maine will only approve 8 Total, Medical Marijuana dispensaries.

The latest Maine Medical Marijuana news is there are currently (6/29/2010) 27 applicants vying to be one of THE LUCKY 8. Almost half of the applicants want their dispensary to be in York and Cumberland counties. Some districts only have one applicant. Cathy Cobb, Director of Health and Human Services, and her four horsemen have the job of filtering down the applicants to THE LUCKY 8 within the next 2 weeks. They will be using a 100 Point System to grade the applicants. Scoring will depend on many factors, including:

• Sustainability of the Dispensary.
• Security of the Dispensary's growing operation.
• Can the dispensary produce enough MMJ to supply patients?
• Growing skills (quality?)
• Ability to prevent internal theft.

Basically, it really depends on the Dispensary's ability to prove they can maintain a successful and safe MMJ Dispensary. It will always be difficult to maintain security at a MMJ Dispensary as long as the black market still has a grip on the state. Our laws have created an environment where marijuana, a plant, is worth more in its weight than Gold. As long as Maine keeps one foot in prohibition and one foot out, there will be problems. New Jersey Senator seeks to postpone Medical Marijuana

New Jersey Senator Nicholas Scutari, introduced legislation today calling for a three-month delay in getting medical marijuana started in his state. The bill he is introducing would only delay the process from starting for another 3 months. That means MMJ would begin in NJ by January 2011. New Jersey's Governor Christie recently proposed that NJ's Hospitals and Rutgers University be the official state growers of marijuana.

Mayor Bloomberg Says No to MMJ but yes to Legalization Debate

I voted for Mayor Bloomberg 2 elections ago because I thought he was a free thinking politician. And of course I was wrong, he is honest, but not much of a free thinker... Honest because he freely admits he has tried and enjoyed marijuana... Not much of a free thinker because he uses the same old tired arguments against legalization like, it will lead to harder drugs (So does sugar), the stuff nowadays is more powerful than it used to be (More powerful than a stomach full of beer?), blah blah blah. In an article in the Daily News, Bloomberg said he was against legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes but he is ok having the debate about legalizing marijuana outright. His reasoning was that everyone knows what happens with medical marijuana, everyone qualifies... I don't trust Mayor Bloomberg when he says he would welcome the debate to legalize. I do believe he would debate the issue, and has, but I do not believe he would approach the issue with any kind of intellectual honesty. Meaning, no matter what comes out of the debate, Bloomberg has no plans to allow the people of New York City to get their medical or recreational marijuana from anywhere but the Black Market.

Iowa Considering MMJ

Iowa is getting close to legalizing marijuana for medicinal use. But the same old thoughtless questions are rising up out of the GREED gutter...

• Do we LET our citizens grow their own medicine?
• How do we penalize people who are abusing the system?
• How can we maintain our grip on the throats of the People?

Heres some advice for Iowa lawmakers, and any other state's lawmakers: Make it legal like any other plant. Stop trying to control our "Free Market". Stop making a mockery of a Free Market. Spare us your desire for a Nanny State. Prohibition is UN American. If you dont think so, read up and snap out of it. If you only believe in freedom for yourself, your kind and your activities... then you have no clue what Freedom actually is.

Mobile Marijuana Dispensary Finds New Home

At the end of April, we told you about a California Dispensary on Wheels that was having trouble with the police... mostly getting bullied out of whatever Norco California parking space they happened to be parked in.

MMJ USA is happy to hear that the rolling Dispensary's owner, Stewart Hauptman, has found a nice unincorporated Riverside County parking space to set up his shop. Stewart says he has had no problems since the move. He feels the relocation was worth it... just to avoid an expensive legal war with the city of Norco.

Strangers Helping Strangers in Massachusetts

Congratulations to all the members of The Light of Day for collecting the largest amount of food donations to the Strangers Helping Strangers food drive at the StrangeCreek 2010 Festival in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Collections were picked up throughout Connecticut and delivered.
