New Jersey Senator Nicholas Scutari, introduced legislation today calling for a three-month delay in getting medical marijuana started in his state. The bill he is introducing would only delay the process from starting for another 3 months. That means MMJ would begin in NJ by January 2011.
New Jersey's Governor Christie recently proposed that NJ's Hospitals and Rutgers University be the official state growers of marijuana.

New Jersey Multiple Sclerosis Patient is Free on Bail
Delmont, New Jersey | A 37 year old Multiple Sclerosis patient, John Wilson, was released from Southern State Prison early this week.
John was sentenced to 5 years in prison last month for growing marijuana and possessing mushrooms. 1 month and $15,000 later, Wilson says that other than a few muscle spasms and prison being a little scary, his health was OK while he was in custody. Full AP Release
It's no good that John had to go through all this, but it really is a perfect example of the gapping flaws of the existing legal system. New Jersey's new Medical Marijuana laws are set to go in to effect, August 1st 2010. But even then, John will not be able to grow his own "medicine". He'll have to go to a state run dispensary and pay their prices. John is already not able to afford his prescribed multiple sclerosis medication, which would cost him $3000 a month... Unless you want to wait 10 - 12 years for NJ to get their head straight, it's time for you and your Mom to move to California John.

New Jersey Approves Medical Marijuana Lawyers Speculate Shift in Federal Statute
New Jersey Approves Medical Marijuana Lawyers Speculate Shift in Federal Statute. While New Jersey has approved the use and possession of up to 2 ounces of marijuana under a doctors recommendation. There are now more than a handful of states permitting the use of MMJ. The movement on the national level will surely adjust at least to permit further studies into the medicinal properties of Cannabinoids. Such studies have been limited up to this point to do the stance of the Feds and the ironic War on Drugs that has never been anything more than a racket that has created crimes, black markets and escalating budgets for police departments, 3rd district courts, and inmate housing facilities. A recent surge in criminal activity surrounding the medical marijuana movement has been used as an opportunity for fear mongering by authorities facing budget cuts. While it is true that there have been new kinds of marijuana crimes along with the steady progress of the MMJ agenda it is not because the herb is increasingly legal but do to the black markets that still exist and the accessibility of the large quantities of the plant no longer hidden that make dispensaries and medical marijuana users open target for criminals and the DEA. Legalize it outright and end the lies.

New Jersey MMJ Fall Harvest
May we suggest a Festival to go along with New Jersey's first ever Medical Marijuana Fall Harvest? I think MMJ USA just did.
New Jersey will harvest their first marijuana crop this Fall. 6 State Run Dispensaries, yet to be announced... as far as I know. State Grown Weed - New Jersey Does it Different - and in my opinion, they do it in a less free and/or American way. Let the free market do what it will. You don't need a massive harvest under lock and key. Let the individuals of NJ have a profitable home business... But anyway, New Jersey is doing it their own way, lets see how it works out.
From NJ.Com | If all goes according to plan, New Jersey’s first legally grown marijuana plants will be harvested this fall from greenhouses, where they will have been growing for months under the gaze of cameras and security guards. The plants will be dried, packaged and readied for purchase at six licensed facilities by thousands of registered patients who have debilitating illnesses.
The product will not be called Garden State Red or Jersey Gold or anything like that. But when that first joint is lit, New Jersey officially will have ventured where none of the other 13 states that legalized marijuana consumption for medicinal purposes has gone before: taking the lead role in the pot manufacturing and distribution business.

New Jersey Deciding how to do MMJ
So, New Jersey is in its MMJ infancy stage. NJ lawmakers are trying to decide where MMJ dispensaries should be located and who should be able to have access. All I know is that when it's available in Newark, I and 4 million other New Yorkers will be taking the NJ Path train to the nearest doctor and dispensary. All the money New jersey makes will of course make New York law makers jealous, forcing them to follow their neighbors example.
Cliffside Park, NJ | The New Jersey state legislature passed the bill S119 legalizing medical marijuana on January 18, 2010. Harmony Foundation (a non-profit organization), in association with Greenway University, is starting to hold educational seminars which will cover everything needed to know about the medical marijuana / cannabis industry.
In the next six months, the state health department must decide who will be permitted to open "Alternative Treatment Centers" (ATC), how medical marijuana should be tested, in what communities it should be sold and to design rules and regulations for the New Jersey medical marijuana industry. Read the Whole Story.

Now Idaho wants to be state 15 to legalize MMJ
From Boise Weekly | A compassionate Republican legislator, Tom Trail, plans to introduce new medical marijuana (MMJ) legislation during Idaho's 2011 session. If passed, it would make Idaho the 15th state in the nation to legalize marijuana use for patients with chronic illnesses who are currently forced to buy legal medical marijuana out of state and risk bringing it home.
Tom Trail (R-Moscow) is modeling Idaho's plan after New Jersey's; carefully blocking loopholes exploited in other states. Trail hopes to quell the fears from law enforcement and state officials who puffed up their rhetoric the last time he mentioned it. The key this round is only allowing legal access for patients diagnosed with specific, severe illnesses like cancer, AIDS, Lou Gehrig's disease, muscular dystrophy, glaucoma and multiple sclerosis.
You can be as careful as you like Tom Trail. It will be legal everywhere someday, and this is a nice first step for Idaho. Imagine skiing and hiking the beauties of Idaho, while high on some bomb ass Idaho MMJ.
