Barack Obama thinks he can decrease the demand for Marijuana

Aggregated From High Times Magazine - May 2011 - Page 15

Barack Obama thinks decreasing the demand for illegal drugs is the answer. Even if he could magically decrease the demand for overwhelmingly popular products that have been in demand longer than almost everything, should he? It's an immoral way of looking at life, Obama thinks he knows yourself better than you do. How the fuck would he know what drugs or medicine we need. Anyway, the following is from High Times:

THAT WASN'T THE QUESTION!

In late January, President Obama sat down for his second Q-and-A session wigth YouTube. Thousands of questions were submitted and, like last year, the most popular topic was the legalization of marijuana. In fact, at one point prior to the online interview, the top 50 questions were pot-related.

Now last year, Obama was shockingly dismissive about cannabis, chortling about the top question, and remarking that "this must say something about our interview audience." He went on to say he doesn't see marijuana as a means to reviving our economy.

This year's program was hardly different. The issue of marijuana wasn't addressed until two-thirds through the 39 minute interview. When the question was raised, Obama was questioned about the legalization of all drugs; marijuana specifically, never came up.

Obama said it was an "entirely legitimate" issue for debate, but that he didn't support legalization, that drugs were actually a "public health issue, and that the goal was to decrease demand". He also blathered on about "shifting resources" and "being strategic".

The only strategy we saw, was the President avoiding the marijuana question once again.

- Note from MMJ USA: There is nothing Progressive about how the President approaches this issue. He obviously has no intent of righting this wrong. He has no intention of telling the DEA to stay the fuck out of our peaceful neighborhoods and lives. He has no intention of squashing the border war, he has no intentions of letting Americans grow and sell American grown marijuana, Obama has no intention of keeping otherwise law abiding youths out of prison... etc, etc..

So, in the nicest way possible, fuck Obama!... He isn't progressive for shit. Ive seen more progressive thought come out of my Fox News watching Brother. I will be voting for someone else this time. In my opinion, all Progressive thinking individuals should do the same. There isn't anything progressive about Obama's actions... A few of his words are Progressive, but his actions are speaking much louder.

Oldest Marijuana Stash Ever Discovered

The oldest marijuana stash in the world was discovered in a Chinese tomb. 2 Pounds of dried marijuana was found packed in to a large bowl.

When discovered, the bowl was still carefully placed next to the body of a 45 year old, blue eyed Shaman. A Blue Eyed Shaman in the Gobi Desert who died 2,700 years ago had his bowl of weed and a few other objects, like a harp, ready to use in the afterlife... I too would like to make sure I have some weed when I first get to heaven. After awhile you'll meetup with old or new friends who will have their own hooks and what not, but I'd like to have a big ass, 2 pound bowl of cannabis waiting for me after passing. I need to smoke after a plane trip, I'll definitely need a smoke after I die.

At first the researchers thought the bowl of herb was Coriander. But the herb tested true for THC and the Blue Eyed, 2,700 year old Shaman was looking pretty cool, even though he was dead as fuck.

It took 10 months to get the discovery to London where they could properly analyze the pot... oh yeah, and all the other stuff too... Carbon Dating and Genetic Tests were performed and documented. The 2 pound bowl of marijuana was all bud, no stem, not much anyway, all psychoactive is the point. This is pointed out for anyone who would like to say he was probably only using the marijuana to make clothes and shit.

Connecticut Governor Says Its Time to Legalize Marijuana

Connecticut Governor Says Its Time to Legalize IT

Last week, Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy said, “Let’s accept reality”. The Governor wants to do what the good Governator just did for Californians, that is change possession of anything less than an ounce of weed to an infraction, instead of a crime.... or decriminalization. The Governor believes that the existing laws are somewhat racist, with major flaws in enforcing the immoral laws.

The public hearing on Legalizing Marijuana in Connecticut will be held tomorrow (Monday, March 14, 2011). Good luck to our friends in Connecticut.

Measure M Passes in Los Angeles

Measure M passes in Los Angeles | Collectives/Dispensaries Angry - Why? Because they're out $50 for every $1000 they "raise" - Who will pay for this in the end? Collectives and Dispensaries?? Nope, the answer is You, Medical Marijuana Patients of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, California - Local Lawmakers had been doing their level best to make life more difficult for their fellow Angelinos by trying to axe 439 MMJ Dispensaries/Collectives from the Los Angeles area. After multiple powerful lawsuits from MMJ advocacy groups, lawmakers have backed down and settled on taxing the Medical Marijuana Collectives/Dispensaries. We're guessing this is probably what they had in mind in the first place. Demand everything and settle for lots of cash in the end.

On Tuesday, (03/08/2011), the city voted to approve Measure M, which allows the city to collect $50 out of every $1000 the Dispensaries/Collectives "raise" from selling Medical Marijuana. Los Angeles area Collectives/Dispensaries already lobby and actively support keeping marijuana halfway illegal and 80% more expensive than it should be. Then the local Los Angeles Government gets involved and messes with the Collectives/Dispensaries profits.. It's a pretty big pile of money for the city... but again, the consumer will be the one that eventually gets punched in the stomach. This Measure will force many Los Angeles taxpayers to pay more for their medicine while their pay and opportunity are still decreasing.

Mexican Drug Lord Thanks America For Keeping Drugs Illegal

The following is aggregated from 420 Magazine:

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera reported head of the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico, ranked 701st on Forbes’ yearly report of the wealthiest men alive, and worth an estimated $1 billion, today officially thanked United States politicians for making sure that drugs remain illegal. According to one of his closest confidants, he said, “I couldn’t have gotten so stinking rich without George Bush, George Bush Jr., Ronald Reagan, even El Presidente Obama, none of them have the cajones to stand up to all the big money that wants to keep this stuff illegal. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say, Gracias amigos, I owe my whole empire to you.” - Read Whole Story on 420Magazine.Com

Potparazzi - Celebrity Stoners in the News

Potparazzi - Celebrity Stoners in the News

Aggregated From Skunk Magazine, Volume 6, Issue 7

Miley Cyrus celebrated her 18th birthday with hits off a bong and TMZ posted the video of the now legal songstress sucking back massive salvia hits in her LA home. The psychedelic herb is still legal in California, but just the same, the media's panties are all in a bunch over the leaked video. If Cyrus wishes to stay America's innocent darling she should limit her parties to getting shit-faced, fall-down drunk on alcohol. That behavior is accepted.

Willie Nelson was busted for possession of Marijuana. What would actually be surprising is if the police boarded Willie's tour bus and found him dry. At the time of his arrest the find weighed-in at 6 ounces but later the weight was magically trimmed down to 4 ounces. What this boils down to is the offence goes from being a felony to being a misdemeanor. We guess it's the perks of being a celebrity. (Note from MMJ USA - Willie Nelson, not just any celebrity. Willie is Badass extraordinaire)

AC/DC's drummer, Phil Rudd was convicted in New Zealand, of possessing 25 grams of marijuana. The police found the drugs as they searched his boat. Rudd admitted the stash was for his personal use and his lawyer is working on getting the charges dismissed so the incident doesn't interfere with the legendary bands tour.

Alarmed by a police backlash against pot dispensaries in some California cities, lawmakers and advocates for medical marijuana are calling for statewide regulation of medical cannabis stores and new laws to clarify rules under which they operate. - Read more from the Sacramento Bee

Theres Too Much Money in it - Hillary For Prohibition

"There's too much money in it." - That's what Hillary Clinton said about legalizing marijuana in order to crush the black market. Here's the full quote:

"There is just too much money in it," Clinton said. "You can legalize small amounts for possession, but those who are making so much money selling, they have to be stopped. They can’t be given an even easier road to take, because they will then find it in their interest to addict even more young people."

That's some ignorant-ass, anti-business bullshit. Those who are making so much money have to be stopped?! On what planet does that ring true? And did Hillary use the "What about the children" argument? This is your chance Republicans. Use the House you won to pass some budget cuts that include a beheading of the DEA.  That would cut out billions of dollars. Billions of dollars every year we Americans pay to harass ourselves and our neighbors. Do that and people like us might look past the fact that you have clowns like Sarah Palin and Glen Beck on your side.

Marijuana and the Military

Marijuana and the Military
Uncle Sam doesn't smile kindly on Tokers in uniform.

The following is from the February 2011 High Times , Buzz Section , Page 16

Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or UCMJ -- the foundation of US milirtary law -- states that illicit drug possesion, use, and manufacturing by any military personnel (or civilian subject to the UCMJ) is punishable by court-martial. Besides pot, this includes opium, heroin, cocaine, speed, LSD and every other outlawed narcotic. Those accused of drug crimes will stand trial, and if found guilty of violating Article 112a, are given a dishonorable discharge. A dishonorable discharge results in losing all veterans' benefits (including disability), as well as a lifetime ban on personal firearm ownership.

The proliferation of medical marijuana use in the last two decades has resulted in conflicts between a patient's right to self-medicate (especially if they reside in a state where medical pot is illegal) and the military's zero tolerance pot policy. As reported in the Oregonian, Spc. Richelle Golden, 39, of the Oregon Army National Gaurd, suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's syndrome (an auroimmune disease destroying glands that produce tears and saliva).

Wheelchair-bound, Golden got a medicinal marijuana recommendation in Oregon last January, not expecting to receive active-duty orders just one month later. She reported to an Army medical center in Washington State in February, still in a wheelchair and declaring she was a medical marijuana patient, expecting to be retired from military service. Instead, she was given an "Article 15", which is non-judicial punishment by the military -- no court-martial necessary. Not surprisingly, Golden failed an urinalysis test for pot and was soon busted to the rank of private, put on probation and restricted to barracks. She wants an open court-martial in order to have a chance to win her case and regain her freedom.

Golden's predicament is especially curious given that the policy of the Oregon Guard since 2007 requires soldiers to declare medical marijuana use and appear before a medical board. The soldier is offered treatment options other than pot, but must quit pot or the Guard. Apparently, Golden wasn't offered these options, but was instead locked down for "wrongful marijuana use," officially flagged as a "drug addict". Iin May 2010, US Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) called for an investigation in to possiblke Army discrimination against National Guard Soldiers in response to the Golden case, a potentially encouraging outcome to an otherwise unjust story.

In the Summer of 2009, an even more bizarre case involving marijuana and the military transpired. During "Operation Endless Summer", "San Diego's District Attorney filed drug charges against 33 individuals, ostensibly to "protect military housing" in the city, which has a high-profile US Navy presence. However, 14 pf those arrested were actually medical pot patients, who were initially targeted as part of police entrapment tactics focused on San Diego dispensaries. Furthermore, a number of those charged in "Endless Summer" had no military connections. Fortunately, two of the 14 patients who have gone to trial have been acquitted by jury.

In 2004, a Bay Area rapper/soldier named Singe was snapped with an Iraqi pot plant growing wild. That shot landed on the cover of Grow America (a High Times spin-off), and eventually resulted in a confrontation with his commanding officer. Singe admitted to posing in uniform with the plant, but he wasn't discharged; he was told he was too good a soldier.

Before Singe served a second tour of duty in Iraq in 2008, HIGH TIMES conducted a follow-up interview with him. He stated that he had been told that President George W Bush had been briefed and actually shown the cover photo. Singe also disclosed that on the front lines, commanding officers "look the other way" when it comes to pot or hash use.  -- Singe's High Times Interview Video Below --
