Measure M Passes in Los Angeles

Measure M passes in Los Angeles | Collectives/Dispensaries Angry - Why? Because they're out $50 for every $1000 they "raise" - Who will pay for this in the end? Collectives and Dispensaries?? Nope, the answer is You, Medical Marijuana Patients of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, California - Local Lawmakers had been doing their level best to make life more difficult for their fellow Angelinos by trying to axe 439 MMJ Dispensaries/Collectives from the Los Angeles area. After multiple powerful lawsuits from MMJ advocacy groups, lawmakers have backed down and settled on taxing the Medical Marijuana Collectives/Dispensaries. We're guessing this is probably what they had in mind in the first place. Demand everything and settle for lots of cash in the end.

On Tuesday, (03/08/2011), the city voted to approve Measure M, which allows the city to collect $50 out of every $1000 the Dispensaries/Collectives "raise" from selling Medical Marijuana. Los Angeles area Collectives/Dispensaries already lobby and actively support keeping marijuana halfway illegal and 80% more expensive than it should be. Then the local Los Angeles Government gets involved and messes with the Collectives/Dispensaries profits.. It's a pretty big pile of money for the city... but again, the consumer will be the one that eventually gets punched in the stomach. This Measure will force many Los Angeles taxpayers to pay more for their medicine while their pay and opportunity are still decreasing.

Reefer Raciscm

Reefer Racism

The following is from the March 2011 issue of High Times, Pg.18

California may lead the nation in medical-marijuana culture, but simple possession arrests in the state are still escalating, and minorities continue to be busted for pot at a disproportionately higher rate than white people, according to a joint report issued in October 2010 by the NAACP and the Drug Policy Alliance entitled Arresting Blacks for Marijuana in California: Possession Arrests in 25 cities, 2006-08.
Despite the title, the study also includes pot arrests for Latinos. It found that in some parts of the state, minorities were arrested for weed up to 12 times more frequently than whites. As for California's two largest cities, blacks were arrested for pot possession at almost six times the rate of whites in San Diego, and at seven times the rate of whites in Los Angeles. Moreover, these racially unbalanced arrests occurred in every county and almost every police department in California. However, according to US Department of Health and Human Services stats for 2004 to 2007, whites of all ages report using marijuana more than either Latinos or African-Americans.
The study avoids accusing individual police officers of racism, but it does suggest an institutionalized racial bias in law enforcement.
Stephen Gutwillig of the Drug Policy Alliance clarifies: "[Officers] are assigned to certain neighborhoods, designated as 'high crime,' that are home to Blacks and Latinos. It's a self-perpetuating system in which cops primarily stop and search large numbers of young people in black and latino neighborhoods, find small amounts of marijuana, easily meet their arresst and citation quotas, and therefore justify continuing these practices."
The study indicates that over the last 20 years, 850,000 arrests for possession of less than an ounce were made in California; half a million of those took place in the last 10 years. Ironically, every category of actual serious crime has been declining in California since 1990.

Afgoo | Marijuana Review by CLOUD Magazine

Genetics: Maui Wowie x Afghani #1 | Sativa Dominant Hybrid

A gorgeous specimen of this wonderful strain. The flowers have pale amber hairs and the trichomes glisten as if covered in micro diamonds. The smell is indescribable, bold enough to clear sinuses and robust enough to enjoy. Be careful when handling the buds as they are extremely sticky (don't waste the triches man). Smoke is as heavy as a hash and as heady as a haze. Tangy and Peppery with a high that starts behind the eyes and builds to the cerebrum. - Available at SoCal Botanicals in Homeland.

San Francisco proved once again why it's our national Stoner capital. During the first two games of this year's World Series between the hometown Giants and the Texas Rangers, fans cheered their team on by lighting up liberally throughout the games. Texas outfielder, Josh Hamilton was blown away by the sweet smells wafting out of the stands. "I could smell weed in the outfield," he said. "It was crazy!"

Cruising the California Coast for the Choicest of Breaks and Kindest of Buds

Cruising the California Coast for the Choicest of Breaks and Kindest of Buds
I have long wanted the freedom to just chase the best surf conditions from LA all the way down through Baja. Until now it was just a dream. In this recession I could never afford the bare minimum sleeping accommodations. Few of the choicest breaks have camping facilities available. Pitching a tent was always cool when down in Baja but sand got everywhere and setting up and taring down shop was such a chore. Then I saw this tent that fastens to just about any car. It pops up and locks and is ready to go in an instant. It has a sick comfortable mattress that rivals any Hotel bed and saves me $60-$200 that i would spend to for such accommodations. The best thing about it is i am a snails sprint from the breaks. At night I burn my Purps sweet and slow and watch the sun boil into the pulsing sea. In the morning it is the Afghan Cush or G13 as i slip into my wetsuit, grab my board and crash into the crisp morning waves before the stars have cloaked themselves in sunlight.

Governor Schwarzenegger Decriminalizes Marijuana Statewide

Governor Schwarzenegger Decriminalizes Marijuana StatewideCalifornia Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) Thursday signed into law a bill that decriminalizes the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana. The bill reduces simple possession from a misdemeanor to an infraction.

Currently, small-time pot possession is "semi-decriminalized" in California. There is no possible jail sentence and a maximum $100 fine. But because possession is a misdemeanor, people caught with pot are "arrested," even if that means only they are served a notice to appear, and they must appear before a court. That has happened to more than a half million Californians in the last decade, and more than 60,000 last year alone. Every one of them required a court appearance, complete with judge and prosecutor. That costs the cash-strapped state money it desperately needs. Under the bill signed today, SB 1449, by Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), pot possession will be treated like a traffic ticket. The fine will remain at $100, and there will be no arrest record. In a signing statement, Schwarzenegger said he opposed decriminalization for personal use—and threw in a gratuitous jab at Proposition 19, the tax and regulate marijuana legalization initiative—but that the state couldn't afford the status quo. "I am signing this measure because possession of less than an ounce of marijuana is an infraction in everything but name," said Schwarzenegger. "The only difference is that because it is a misdemeanor, a criminal defendant is entitled to a jury trial and a defense attorney. In this time of drastic budget cuts, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement, and the courts cannot afford to expend limited resources prosecuting a crime that carries the same punishment as a traffic ticket." "Gov. Schwarzenegger deserves credit for sparing the state's taxpayers the cost of prosecuting minor pot offenders," said California NORML director Dale Gieringer. "Californians increasingly recognize that the war on marijuana is a waste of law enforcement resources." The law goes into effect January 1. Even if Prop 19 passes in November, it leaves in place misdemeanor charges for smoking in public or in the presence of minors. Those misdemeanors would become infractions under the new law.

First Ever Marijuana Ad Hits Televison

Cannacare released the first ever Marijuana Centric Advertisement in California, on KTXL. The video below shows some of the "controversial" commercial and also a few of the clowns who are against a free market. (BTW, Cannacare is also no friend to the free market, but they do and say what they gotta do and say.) One such propaganda hurling retard, Randy Thomasson from Marijuana Harms Families, says something like, "Whats next, Medical Cocaine and Medical Heroine?!?" I guess the outspoken dimwit has never heard of Oxycontin and Ritalin. F*ck the Alarmist Clowns and their old freedom squashing ideas. Legalize IT - We don't need any State Nanny's protecting us from ourselves...

Los Angeles County wants to Ban Unincorporated MMJ Dispensaries

Los Angeles County wants to altogether Ban Medical Marijuana Dispensaries in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. MMJ Dispensaries are currently allowed in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, but you wouldn't know it if you lived there. There have never been any approved Marijuana Dispensaries because there probably isn't an inch of land that is not within 1,000 feet of a church, daycare center, library, playground, school or other ?!? "sensitive uses" ?!? - More Here.
The paranoia regarding areas involving children is understandable... not logical, but I could listen to an argument for that. But, churches and libraries? What are they worried about? It reminds me of some gun laws that sound like no brainers on the surface... ie. No guns allowed in churches. Sounds good at first. The problem is, if someone has intent to kill, that gun law won't stop them. You WANT good, responsible people to have guns in situations where a crazy cuts loose. The "No MMJ dispensaries near libraries or churches" is bogus. You worry about the drug dealer targeting kids ON the playground. You don't worry about the legitimate business selling wine or medicine. Even if its next door to a school.
And if the worry is about the crime that a MMJ Dispensary could bring to the area, if true, that is only the fault of lawmakers keeping marijuana "kind of" illegal. All these growing pains could have been avoided if marijuana had just been legalized. - Medical Marijuana Card
