Tim Beck | Michigan's Marijuana Hero | Beck wants marijuana to be treated like alcohol in Detroit, Michigan. Thanks to Beck, and the over 6,000 signatures he's collected, the city of Detroit will have a vote this year similar to the kind of vote that California and Nevada have on the ballot in November.

Tim Beck is a veteran of successful drives to approve medical marijuana in five Michigan cities and ultimately statewide.

Beck, 58, spent five weeks overseeing the collection of many more than the 3,700 signatures needed to get Detroit's November ballot to include his proposal. It would legalize possession of up to 1 ounce of pot on private property by adults 21 and older. Full Story...

Re Zoning for MMJ Dispensaries in Traverse City Michigan

TRAVERSE CITY, Michigan | Information from Up North Live -- Traverse City leaders are taking the next step in creating regulations for medical marijuana.

Monday night, Traverse City Commissioners discussed four different options to deal with the issue and are moving forward with a moratorium.

The moratorium, which could be voted on at next Monday's commission meeting, would stop any medical marijuana dispensary from opening until October 18, 2010. This would allow city leaders to put regulations into place and take a close look at zoning ordinances. Officials will speak with medical marijuana groups and also speak with patients who use medical marijuana (MMJ) when crafting the new regulations.

First Medicinal Marijuana Dispensary opened in Grand Rapids Michigan

A Battle Creek, Michigan man who worked at a Walmart store says he was (Memorials) fired for his legal medical marijuana use.
